Plaza Mayor:

The Plaza Mayor is the center of the city and is known birthplace of the city of Lima. It is surrounded on all sides by Palace of the Union, Cathedral of Lima, Municipal Palace, Government Palace and Archbishop’s Palace of Lima. Francisco de Toledo made the first water fountain. It was inaugurated on 21 October 1578 and consists of an elevated bowl with baluster. It is available at any of the restaurants serving Peruvian food. Anticuchos are meat kabobs made up of chicken, steak or cow heart. It is easily found in Peruvian barbeque restaurants or on many street corners.

The Cathedral Lima:
The Cathedral of Lima is situated in the center of the historic city and marked as the Lima’s symbolic building. It is the home of the best museum for religious arts. The cathedral is dedicated to Evangelist and St John and holds the tomb of Spanish winner, Francisco Pizarro who conquered the Inca Empire and founded the Lima city. The interior of Lima Cathedral has checkerboard floor with a delicate curved ceiling. The cathedral is adorned with elegant baroque furnishings of which the most notable are the carved choir stalls.
