Nikko is home to breathtaking striking natural views. The region possesses scenic and picturesque mountain landscapes, waterfalls, lakes, waterfalls, hiking trails and hot springs. Limited Express to Nikko:
Shinjuku is connected with Nikko through Limited Express Nikko which takes 2 hours. Shinjuku is connected with Kinugawa-Onsen via “Kinugawa”which takes 2 hours and 15 minutes. They have three trips from Shinjuku to Kinugawa-Onsen and one round trip to Nikko from Shinjuku. You will get few extra trips during long weekend and peak season. The Tobu Railway’s fleet operates the train whose name includes the word “Spacia”. This will be a better option than JR fleet. The seat reservation is required in SPACIA Limited Express trains which come in two versions. One of them has the fastest route to Nikko going directly to the Nikko station in 1 hour 50 minutes.

Shinkyo bridge

Shinkyo bridge:
Shinkyo Bridge is situated between the railway stations and Toshogu Shrine in central Nikko. Itcan be accesses within 30 minutes on foot or through a bus from Tobu Nikko Station which reaches the Shinkyo bus station in 5 minutes. The modern Shinkyo was built in 1636, as the exact origins are not clear. This amazing bridge is considered as one of the finest bridges amongst the other two including Saruhashi in Yamanashi Prefecture and Kintaikyo in Iwakuni. The Shinkyo Bridge meaning the “sacred bridge” lies at the entrance to Nikko’s temples and shrines although it technically belongs to Futarasan Shrine.

Akechidaira Ropeway:
Akechidaira Plateau is situated almost on the top of the Irohazaka Winding Road. The plateau offers a free parking area with a spot that gives spectacular views of Irohazaka and the valley. During autumns the falls color spreads everywhere across the landscape and thus it becomes a favorite autumn color spot for the tourists. For viewing the beauty of Lake Chuzenjiko and Kegon Waterfalls a ropeway carries the visitors to a secured and safe platform on above the mountains. You can reach this safe platform through a hiking trail from Lake Chuzeniko after hiking for 2 hours. There are so may seasonal views this regions offers to its visitors including the fresh green in the start of summer, colorful leaves in autumn, rhododendron flowers in spring and snow covered fields in winters.

Kegon Falls:
Out of the 48 waterfalls in Nikko, Kegon Waterfall is the most renowned. An artistic work of creature is made when water from Lake Chuzenji falls onto the rocks from a height of 97 meters. Kegon Falls are located in Nikko National Park at Lake Chuzenji near the city of Nikko. The falls were formed when the Daiya River changed its route due to flow of lava. The height of the falls is almost 97 meters with many smaller waterfalls situated at the sides and behind Kegon Falls. During autumns many visitors come to see the waterfall beauty at its bloom thereby blocking the traffic from Nikko to Chuzenji.
